Welcome Back And Gauntlet Rules

Tim Nealon

All right, so we are back with Ed. You guys might have watched our podcast where we talked about storytelling in Appalachia. No, I said it wrong. Say it again. Appalachia. Appalachia. I say Appalachians, guys. I'm really not stupid. I just say it a different way. And uh we talked about his his background in horror, his writing his podcast. But now we are going to do the ghost city gauntlet. God damn it. Ga the ghost city gauntlet. We got it. Gauntlet. We're gonna do that. All right. So what this is, it's just 15 rapid fire questions. Don't think about it too long. Just the first word that comes to mind, Ed. Okay. All right. Number one, what is your favorite paranormal word? Investigation. All right. Two, curse word you're most likely to yell out when getting scared. Mine too. Three, when people try to debunk debunk the paranormal, what argument bothers you the most? That they can't see it so it doesn't exist. Perfect. Four, what was your childhood fear? Uh abandonment. Oh, that's a good one. Yeah. I think that might have been my actually mine. Also my adult fear. That's that that also that is definitely my adult fear. Like I'm waiting for the day that my wife leaves me. And there's no reason she would, but it's just in my head. Like I'm gonna come home one day and she's gone. Um, actually, funny enough, you know what my childhood fear fear was, and this actually relates to what we're talking about today. I swear to God, this is the truth. So, what is the one with the the knives on his hand? Is that Freddie Krueger?

Ed Bolden-Greer

Yes, Freddie Kruger.

Tim Nealon

Freddie Krueger was seriously my biggest childhood fear. I thought every time I would go into the woods, he was there waiting for me. Um, all right, enough about me. Five. What fame what famous haunting fascinates you the most?

Ed Bolden-Greer

I I gotta say the bell witch. I've just written about it and gone there and just yeah. Right.

Tim Nealon

What famous haunting do you think is complete bullshit?

Ed Bolden-Greer

There's a hotel in Louisville, Kentucky, and um I'll just keep it real generic. There's a uh well-known gangster that they say resides there. Okay. And and I think that's just nonsense.

Tim Nealon

There's a lot of there's a lot of paranormal hauntings that are nonsense. Um, all right, number seven, favorite urban legend.

Ed Bolden-Greer

Um, my favorite urban legend is I'm gonna have to say Bigfoot, our Sasquatch.

Tim Nealon

He lives in the woods. How can that be an urban legend? That's that's a that's a rural legend, Ed.

Ed Bolden-Greer

True. I if I had to choose another one, it would be the urban legend of the hook. I've told that story so many times. That's okay.

Tim Nealon

Yeah, that's a good one. Uh I didn't mean to call you out, Ed. Sorry about that. Uh, what paranormal phenomena, phenomenon, phenomena scares you the most scares you the most?

Ed Bolden-Greer

Um the so if you think about the story like a Bloody Mary, where you can say something uh enough times and then it comes and takes you. Yeah, uh that kind of stuff kind of scares me. I'm not scared, I'm not easily scared by the paranormal, but that the thought that I might not even be aware that I'm doing it, uh-huh, like it may be a joke and then I'm just taking.

Tim Nealon

Yeah, that's why I'm afraid of the cops. Um it's like shit, officer, what was I even doing wrong? I'm being taken away. Um what sound do you associate? Number nine, what sound do you associate with the supernatural?

Ed Bolden-Greer

Um, there's this low static hum that I hear every once in a while, uh, like on TV and and places. But I also, when I've been on paranormal investigations, I've heard something similar to that. It's just like a a really low hum.

Tim Nealon

Hmm.

Ed Bolden-Greer

Like that.

Dream Investigation Spot Waverly Hills

Tim Nealon

I didn't even do that on purpose. No, I I I I understand what you mean. Um, all right, number 10. What paranormal location that you have not been to would you like to most investigate?

Ed Bolden-Greer

Um the I can't remember the name of it. In Kentucky, there's a uh sanitarium, or I don't know what they call it today, right? Uh that is supposed to be haunted, and I would love to go there. Sanitarium? I hate, but I can't remember the name of it right now. But there are always a lot of words and brain.

Tim Nealon

Yeah. So funny enough, I know exactly which one you're talking about. I can't think of it either right now.

Producer

Is it the Waverly Hills?

Cryptids To Drink With And History Spirits

Tim Nealon

That's it. Yeah, Waverly Hills. There we go. Like my brain completely farted too. So don't feel yeah. Um, all right. Number 11, what cryptid would you most want to have a beer with?

Ed Bolden-Greer

Oh, that's gonna be a toss-up. And um Mothman, I have a lot of interest in like Mothman. Uh-huh. Uh but uh my uncle Tommy is a big Sasquatch person. So I would I would want to have a beer with Sasquatch so I could invite Tommy.

Tim Nealon

Okay. See, there you are again, bringing people together. Um, what do we got? 12. If you could talk to one spirit from history, who would it be?

Ed Bolden-Greer

Hmm. I I'm gonna say Ben Franklin because I I would want to know some of the the stuff. I I'm not like the biggest Ben Franklin fan, but there's a lot of rumors and things about how freaky he was. I would want to know what of what in all of that lore was truthful.

Tim Nealon

So so I actually, you know, like I said, I love history and you know, Revolutionary War history, history is one of those areas. So I actually think most of those stories are probably true. Like his propensity for prostitutes and you know all that stuff.

Ed Bolden-Greer

I just think it would be wild to hear his stories. Yeah.

Aliens Probing And Wild Theories

Tim Nealon

And by the way, you kind of look like a young Ben Franklin. I don't know if anybody's ever told you that. Um thank you. Yeah, no, it's a compliment. Um oh shit, now my phone on locked up. Um, I think Ben Franklin, who did I say Michael Jackson? Um, but no, Ben Franklin's a good one too. Um, number 13. What would you ask an alien? I'm assuming you mean like an outer space alien. Yeah, yeah. What would you ask an outer space alien?

Ed Bolden-Greer

Um, we play this game on the podcast, uh, the on the cauldron, and it's called the the actual game is called uh stupid for uh dumb questions to ask your friends, but we thought it was dumb questions to ask your dumb friends. Okay, and Jacob is uh both Bigfoot and alien oriented. Okay. Um, and so I would ask, why the hell do you need to probe somebody? Right? Yeah. Jacob is the person who's like, you can probe me. And I'll I'm like, why would you need to probe somebody? Don't you have advanced scanners that would give you all that information? What are your theories? They're just perverts.

Tim Nealon

I think I think they could be perverts. Yeah, like if you're an advanced race of alien, what are you really gonna learn by putting something up a person's butt? Maybe they're evolved to not have you know that lower orifice.

Producer

And so they're just investigating, like, what is this thing?

Tim Nealon

Maybe they photosynthesize and they don't actually eat, therefore, they're like, What is this? What is this exit?

Ed Bolden-Greer

They are green gray, right?

Afterlife Hopes And Lasting Legacy

Tim Nealon

Yeah, exactly. All right, well, let's get back on track here. This is all my fault. Um question number 14. When you arrive on the other side, what do you hope to hear?

Ed Bolden-Greer

Um, I hope to hear something really fun happening. Okay. Like, I I don't want to hear anything serious. Like once I cross that veil. I mean, I want like Pink Pony Club or something really upbeat and just fun. Just fun and joy.

Tim Nealon

Yeah. Yeah. I mean, if you could spend eternity in just fun, that would be fun. That's happening. Yeah, that'd be a lot of fun. All right. And last but not least, um, oh, this is a deep one. This is a new one. So, Ed, when your story is finished, what do you hope people carry on with them about you?

Ed Bolden-Greer

That I lived my life with compassion, love, and understanding. Right. And that um that I think all people are eventually forgotten, but that my story will help people remember who I am.

Tim Nealon

That's a worthy uh goal.

Mount Rushmore Of Horror Movies

Producer

All right, and with that, I I've got one bonus one that's specific to Ed because he seems like the guy who could answer this. All right. Ed, what is the definitive Mount Rushmore of horror films?

Ed Bolden-Greer

Oh. So this is probably not gonna be what you were expecting, but I think the movie seven uh is probably the most horrific horror film because it was such a psychological mind fuck. If you just think about what's in the box and then finding out what's in the box, think about how you would react. So I've never seen this. What's in the box?

Tim Nealon

Oh, you get you're no spoilers, Tip. Oh, okay, all right, never mind. So that's oh, we don't do spoilers. All right, all right, so seven.

Producer

Yep. Three more, three. We need three more.

Ed Bolden-Greer

Oh, three. Um, I think that uh the movie trick or treat was iconic, and I don't think you can be a horror fan or uh anything without watching that movie. Um, I collect all things Sam. Uh, and then um I I think that the original Halloween movie was exceptional, and I think every iteration after it had some exceptional stuff, but was not as good as the first one.

Tim Nealon

So I'm gonna have to throw the notebook on there. Um because it's your horror movie. I had to watch that with my wife, and that was just That is horrific. Yeah, it was horrific. Um yeah. So that's that's my addition. That shows you how much I know about horror movies. All right. All right, so that is another episode of the Ghost City Gauntlet. Thanks for joining us, and thanks for taking the time to have some fun with us, Ed. Thank you. All right, thank you.
